Raised Foil

We offer full color printing on one or two sides of your business cards, postcards, and greeting cards, with the option to add foil on one or both sides. Our raised foil printing process includes a foil stamp, which gives a raised, tactile finish that you can touch and feel. We offer three foil colors: gold, silver, and holographic.

To set up your artwork for raised foil printing, you will need to create a separate PDF mask file that includes only the elements that will have a foil. These elements should be made 100% black (CMYK color) in the mask file. The foil elements should not be included in the original PDF print file, as the foil will be printed separately.

Our raised foil printing is done on a 16pt cardstock with suede lamination. Suede lamination is a popular finish that gives your cards a soft, velvety feel. It is a popular choice for business cards, postcards and greeting cards, as it adds a touch of sophistication and luxury. The lamination also helps to protect your cards from wear and tear.

What Is The Difference Between Raised, Inline and Hot Foil?

Raised foil, inline foil, and hot foil are three different printing techniques that can be used to add foil accents to printed materials. Here is a brief overview of each technique:

  • Raised foil: In raised foil printing, a layer of foil is applied to the paper and then pressed onto the printing plate or die. The foil is then "raised" or embossed to create a three-dimensional effect. This technique is often used for business cards, invitations, and other items where a premium look is desired.

  • Inline foil: In inline foil printing, the foil is applied to the paper as it is being printed, rather than being applied separately and then pressed onto the printing plate. This technique allows for greater flexibility in terms of the shapes and designs that can be created with foil, as the foil can be applied in any pattern or design that can be printed.

  • Hot foil: Hot foil printing involves transferring foil onto paper using heat and pressure. A die or stamp is used to transfer the foil onto the paper, and the result is a smooth, flat finish. Hot foil printing is often used for printing logos, text, and other simple designs onto paper, cardboard, and other materials.

In general, raised foil and hot foil printing techniques are used to create more traditional, classic looks, while inline foil printing allows for more creative and modern designs. The choice of technique will depend on the desired effect and the design requirements of the project.

  6. Use foil in combination with other finishes: Pair raised foil with other finishes, such as spot gloss or embossing, to add depth and interest to your branding materials.

  7. Consider foil placement during the design process: Make sure to include the placement of foil in your design mockups to ensure it is integrated seamlessly into your overall design.

  8. Use foil on high-quality paper stock: Choose a thick, high-quality paper stock to showcase the raised foil effect.
